This is my Deflection Based Beam Scale.

In my Junior fall class, Mechanics of Solids and Structures, my group and I were tasked with designing, creating, and testing a deflection based scale. The goal of the project was to demonstrate our understanding of the elastic deformation of beams and accurately predict the weight of objects between 1-6kg.

Our design was given specific parameters for the overall size of the scale, the size of the bending component, and the safety factor.
